“You’ve got bad eating habits if you use a grocery cart in 7-Eleven.” Dennis Miller
In what ways could I make small changes to improve my nutrition?
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. (Hebrews 12:28, NIV)
When it comes to the eating habits of the large audience that we’re writing to, I’m sure the gap is very wide. We may have folks (I pray not) who eat fast food hamburgers and French fries on a regular basis. We may have raw food enthusiasts who believe that eating any cooked food will seriously damage their health. And I’m sure we have many who are somewhere in between those two examples.
My paradigm has changed and shifted throughout the years of being in the health and nutrition field. Many people have known me to be extreme in my own eating habits. My wise husband told me a number of years ago that I would rarely get people to eat as “purely” as I do. So, I had to learn and grow in my own knowledge of how to coach and educate people who want to make changes in their health without placing an undue burden on them to eat perfectly.
I guess I’m trying to say that I know I cannot be “all things to all people” when writing these tips. Some things I suggest will be very foreign to some readers. Other readers who are also nutritionally minded may wonder why I recommend certain things and don’t recommend others. It’s an interesting tight rope to walk. Know that my heart is to educate, support, and empower you to be all that God has called you to be.
You’ll often hear me refer to God-foods. I believe eating food that is in its natural state is the best. The least processed the better. If you pick up a box of something and have no idea what it was in its original state, that’s a good indication that it won’t give you much nutritional value. We’ll talk about more specific God-foods another time.
