“Exercise refreshes your body, renews your energy, and gives you strength.” Don Colbert, MD
How much exercise did I get this past week?
Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. (I Cor. 4:2, NIV)
One of the most precious blessings to come into our lives as the result of coaching is an amazing woman named Karen. She is highly educated with a number of advanced degrees. She is currently working with the Library of Congress, and previously served as an attorney for the Unites States Navy. She is an accomplished concert pianist having studied piano from an early age. She performs vocally as well. When I began working with Karen nearly three years ago, she presented me with various health issues that she wanted to address.
This is an excerpt from a letter Karen wrote almost two years ago. “Before Sharon began coaching me, I was suffering from a number of chronic problems, which had not been solved by standard medical treatment. My difficulties included fatigue, sleeplessness, migraine headaches, itchiness, digestive upsets, emotional distress, frequent upper respiratory infections, and a devastating loss of hearing. I had tried the conventional medical treatments, which were ineffective. With Sharon’s help I am finding the solutions to all these conditions and am now enjoying robust health.” Karen’s health has improved even more since that letter was written.
Another main component to Karen’s improved health was incorporating exercise into her daily routine. She had a treadmill collecting dust, so we established some habits around her walking on that. She also has a Gazelle which she learned to use. She uses a stationary bicycle, hula hoops, and resistance bands. She began swimming and loves the fluid exercise that gives her. Even though Karen doesn’t have a weight problem, she knew that routine exercise was a necessity. Therefore, she was willing to do whatever she had to do to establish that routine. She’s doing great and moving more!
Karen has been blind since birth. There are no excuses for not exercising.
