DescriptionDescription  Traditional pecan pie uses corn syrup and is very sweet. This pie uses natural sweeteners with honey and maple syrup. It's still sweet so a little goes a long way.
InstructionsInstructions  Lightly toast pecans in a 325 degree oven for about 10 minutes. Set aside. Whisk eggs together and then add vanilla, sweeteners, melted butter and salt. Gently fold in pecans to the mixture. Pour mixture into 9 inch baked pie shell. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until bubbly and set. Can be topped with whipped cream sweetened with maple syrup and vanilla extract.
NotesNotes  Whole wheat and spelt pie crusts are now readily available in health food stores and regular grocery stores for those who want the convenience of a healthy pre-made crust.
